Cox Institute now accepting applications for host of The Lead podcast

Calling all aspiring podcasters! The Cox Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management and Leadership is looking for an enterprising new host for its podcast, The Lead. Cox Institute student awarded spring reporting internship with the AJC

Will Robinson, a senior journalism major at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, was awarded a reporting internship with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution for the spring 2017 semester. Cox Institute launches The Lead podcast

Students at the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication now have a new way to learn from people who have made it in the media industry: The Lead. Daniel Funke, a fall 2016 Innovation Fellow with the James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management and Leadership, produced the first six podcasts of The Lead to tap into the insights of seasoned journalists, editors, professors and executives. See More >

Grady students complete Fall 2016 Mobile News Lab

A group of 20 journalism students interested in mobile news production and presentation completed the Grady College’s Fall 2016 Mobile News Lab. The Mobile News Lab introduced participants to a variety of mobile production tools and design concepts. Students learned from Grady faculty and guest speakers and engaged in hands-on practice using mobile devices and applications to report news. See More >

Cox Institute joins the Google News Lab University Network

The James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management and Leadership has joined a new university training network established by the Google News Lab. The Institute will affiliate with an initial group of 46 universities from around the globe to form a collaborative forum for sharing resources and best practices on training with Google’s extensive set of tools for journalists and news organizations. See More >

Privacy Conference set to explore consumer issues

Increasing news coverage of identity theft, consumer fraud and emerging technologies like facial recognition and drones make it essential for reporters to understand the intersection of technology and consumer privacy. The University of Georgia is hosting a privacy conference Sept. 30 so that students in journalism and consumer sciences will be better informed about privacy issues and challenges.
