Grady students, faculty and guests gathered in the Special Collections Library on March 3 for a banquet and ceremony honoring this year’s group of Cox Poynter Leaders.
Students selected for the leadership program met once a week since January with Dr. Keith Herndon, visiting professor of journalism. Their sessions included speakers from a variety of leadership backgrounds, including a panel from Jabian Consulting. The students also completed lessons on leadership in the news industry from Poynter’s NewsU.
The banquet also hosted Mark Luckie, manager of journalism and news at Twitter. He spoke about the importance of social media in the news industry, getting trapped in ESPN and offered wisdom in the form of “the immortal words of Tyra Banks.”
