Student Completes Innovation Fellowship After Summer at NPR

Charlotte Norsworthy poses in the NPR lobby in Washington D.C.

Charlotte Norsworthy, a senior journalism and political science major, completed her Cox Innovation Fellowship this summer by interning with National Public Radio in Washington D.C.

Norsworthy worked with the business news desk, where she pitched, researched and wrote stories for NPR’s website and radio news shows. She worked on a range of topics from the changing labor market to international trade.

As one of her final projects for NPR, Norsworthy was able to report on the looming trade war from the consumer perspective from her home town in Hinesville, Ga.

In coordination with her work in DC, Norsworthy stayed in UGA’s Delta Hall as an Honors in Washington Scholar. This summer, Norsworthy was also chosen to represent the Grady College in the Online News Association Student Newsroom at the ONA18 national conference in Austin this fall.

She will also continue a fellowship with the Cox Institute during her senior year as the host of the Institute’s podcast, The Lead.
