Management

The Cox Institute is committed to providing journalism students with opportunities to learn about management through a variety of courses, programs and projects that feature business, economics and finance instruction. The Cox Institute has developed two courses taught in the Journalism Department as part of this mission: Business of News and Financial Journalism. In both courses, students are introduced to business concepts and engage in either producing case studies or stories about business and finance. In addition to those courses, the Cox Institute sponsors fellowships in business journalism through a partnership with the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) and facilitates virtual writing workshops in personal finance reporting also in partnership with SABEW and the National Endowment for Financial Education. The Cox Institute has received several grants to support the Barron’s in Education readership program.
