A mobile news lab project will launch in Fall 2014. Student participants will receive instruction in the latest techniques of mobile news gathering and digitalstorytelling and apply their learning through projects arranged with media partners including CNN, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and others.

A New Name and an Enhanced Mission

We are now the James M. Cox Jr. Institute for Journalism Innovation, Management and Leadership, a name that better identifies our mission as digital technologies continue to transform the organization, practices and management of journalistic enterprises. As part of the Grady College, the Cox Institute prepares students and professionals for leadership roles in the news media. By sponsoring intensive training programs and conducting applied research, the Cox Institute will be at the forefront of addressing the strategic challenges faced by contemporary news organizations.The Cox Institute was established in 1990 by the late Conrad Fink, a legendary journalism professor in the Grady College, as the Cox Institute for Newspaper Management Studies. It is named for the late James M. Cox Jr., who headed Cox Enterprises and Cox Broadcasting Corporation from 1957 until 1974.> Learn more about this exciting change on the Grady College website.
